Being fairly new to muzzle loading I  havent heard of this but it worked for me. Friday I was shooting my .54 cal. Blueridge when it got pretty dirty. I was using 1 1/2 gr. Swiss. I  ran a dry patch down the bore and the rod got stuck, really stuck. A guy I didnt know held the rifle but we couldnt pull the rod loose. I poured some solvent down the bore, waited about 5 minutes and it pulled right out. This probably isnt anything new but it might be helpful to some.

Yes, DEC,
I've done that.......used Lehigh Valley lube/solvent to loosen up the patch as well.  I make it a habit to spitpatch after every shot and keep my face away from the muzzle when dumping in that load of powder!!!  Can't never tell when a spark might be glowin down there!!!!

:-D I have done that soooooooooooooooooo MANY times I would be embarrassed to tell ya.  If you run a brush down it first you might not experiance the problem again.  stay safe....King
