That's a tough question to answer....my latest favorites are the 45-120 Buffalo Classic and the 45-70 Mannlicher!   But that will change when I buy the next one!!! :-D

Probably the one I have with me the most. Anytime I'm bouncing around the hills or river bottoms, my sb2 30-30 Carbine is there.

I have to agree with mt3030.  I like each one I have.  But, if I had to pick one, it would be my .30-06.  Its an older one with an NH serial number.  It also has adjustable sights, which is unique to me, 'cause the '06 isn't listed as a model with adjustable sights.  .

In fairness to my other Handi's, I have some that I have yet to shoot.  But, I'm getting there.

I'd have to go with "whichever one I'm shooting" (and that includes my .22 LR Sportster) as a general answer, but if I was paid big bucks to choose only one, I think I'd go with my old H&R Topper in 30/30. It is lighter (by maybe 1.5 lbs) than the modern guns and actually has a pleasantly figured walnut stock.

On the other hand, looking at the pic of mt3030's carbine, I think I could get attached to something like that real quick!

Aside to mt3030: The barrel definitely looks shorter than standard.. so I'm curious what length it is. Any idea what it weighs as pictured?

Cheers

Tallyho:
No, I'm sorry. I have no idea what it weighs and I'm not at home to put it on the scales. I had the barrel cut and recrowned at 18 inches. Wanted it short and handy out the window of the truck while in the fields (That's where the Mule doe was taken) or on the brushy river bottoms. The 18 inches seems to be a good compromise for me. I had a 16 inch 30-30 (Marlin Maurader) but this is quicker and lighter. I also settled on 18 inches because so many lever action carbines use that length. It loves 150 and 170 Winchester silver tips @ 1.25 inches and 130 Hornady SST @ 1.0 inch.
