Well I promised to post my results when I got to shoot a few of the new Federal shells with the Flitecontrol Wad.
So here is the setup:
2oz 3" Mag w/flitecontrol wad, #5 copper plated.
Remington 870, stock factory 28" Vent rib with fiber optic rifle sights mounted on it. Factory standard FULL choke (lead and Steel rated.)
Shoot-N-See anatomical turkey targets.
So as you can see I have a rather ordinary set-up and no special high tech turkey choke. So take the following results with this in mind.
10 yds out........well we will just say birdy dont have a head no more. Clean kill, vaporized the neck at the half way point (where I was aiming.)
20 yds out.........18 "clean hits and a half dozen "marginals. By this I mean 18 pellets were clearly in the neck and brain, and the "marginals" were those where the pellet was touching vertebrate/brain, but was too close to count as a clean hit.
25 yds out (this was the max range of the lane I was on)........ 12 "cleans" and about 3 or 4 "marginals." But the hit was a bit left, so still pretty good pellet dump.
So considering what I am working with (meaning a purely stock gun) Id say I got me one heck of a gobbler getter. I had also tried some Winchester SUper X Magnum turkey loads, 2oz #5s and did fine at the 10 yards, but didnt get as many hits out at 25 yards. I managed to recover 2 wads as well. So far Im impressed, now we will see if gobba head is as well in a little over a week.
