weird question
« on: April 24, 2005, 01:03:14 PM »
i bought what i thought was an encore this past week but when i saw an ad with a pic of a G2 in it, it looked exactly like mine. the trigger and guard shape is a little different on mine than on the pic of the encore i saw.

which makes me think mine might be a G2. but the barrel on mine is a .204 and it says "encore" on it with T/C address.

If your barrel says Encore its a encore you would not be able to switch barrels of the two guns
I have yet been able to shoot a 3 shot sub 1" group at 100 yards ...........on any deer!!!!!!

Matt,
The Encore and the Contender frames look alot alike and are hard to tell apart in a photo, but if you have them in your hand there is a pretty fair size difference, and the barrel will not interchange.

I wouldn't look at the trigger guard... I'd look at how the forend mates with the frame, the hammer, and the raised detail on the side of the frame.

Was it a TC ad, or a gun store ad... wouldn't be the first time an ad used the wrong photo.

mine does not have the rimfire selecter on the hammer so i guess that solves my problem.

but if you look closely at the triggers and guards in those pics....my gun is an encore and has the exact same trigger and guard as the G2....has mine been modified or something?

also, how do these guns' triggers come, from the factory?

mine is very light, with no creep or overtravel...an excellent trigger...is this something the first owner did? or are they this nice always?

I am very impressed with this gun.

hey, since mine has a bull barrel on it, for me to keep the original forend i have to buy more bull barrels right?

Noooooooooo......they're not really that nice. The prior owner no doubt had a trigger job done.

That was about an $80 free-bee, so to speak.

Also, if the barrel is a T/C heavy barrel, it will use the same fore end as the standard weight 24" barrel

I don't know.  If bad triggers mean Encore then maybe he has a G-2.  Both of mine came from the factory with good triggers, at least as good as my original Contender<vbg>.
