Grange Cape gun - value anyone?
« on: April 17, 2005, 05:07:38 AM »
Howdy.  I came across this Grange Cape Gun in my travels.  It was made in Birmingham, is 12ga/ 577/450 and has been refinished, with a modern recoil pad added.
Anyone know what it might be worth?  What offer should I make?  Any info is great.

I have found that anytime anything has been refinished or refurbished the value drops.

What is the gun worth to you?  That is what you should offer.  A new combo, such as the Baikal is going for about $400 while Krieghofs generally go for thousands of dollars.

Can you get ammo for the gun, are you going to hunt with it?  Have you shot it?

Please kep us posted.

Hello again.  I have talked with this fellow a few times, and have given up.  He posted this on a gun board in Canada here saying he wanted to trade it for a mil-surp, mini 14 kinda thing.  To me, that is under $500.  I let him know I had nothing I wanted to part with at this time, however I would be interested in purchasing it from him.  He got back to me seeking an offer, I declined, and asked him to state an asking price.  He sent me an email saying $2000.    Wierd.

Maybe I'll swap him one of my Mosin Nagants, instead of the cash.  Or just buy him a mini 14.  Kinda strange in my books to seek about $500 in trade value, or $2000 cash.  I will pop him an email with an offer of $400. Whatdyathink?
