CAST BULLETS FOR 444

[LA FAYETTE]

Can a 1981 MARLIN 444S barrel twist can stabilize a 300 grains cast bullet ? I've read that barrel twist is slower in the older picro grovees 444S.
What maximum speed can i get (gas check bullets) with this 300 grains without leading ?
Do you recommand it for hunting ? (200 / 250 lbs game).

I ask this question cos the last 200 bullets i reloaded were with 240 grains soft points Winchester bullets. Shot a big big with this load at 100 yards, immediate kill but the bullet blown in the game with lots of damage (jacket came away from the bullet, and lead that i recover was 1/3 of the original mass).
I think haevier bullets would be more appropriate...and cast bullets (poor expansion) are cheaper, i can practice a lot on the range at low cost too, it helps when you're in the field.

LA FAYETTE:  get yourself on over to the Beartooth Bullet website and read what the owner, Marshall Stanton has written about his success with heavy cast gas checked bullets and the 444s micro-groove barrel.  

Those barrels will shoot the heavier bullets very accurately.  Mine do..... and yours can too.  Mikey.
