Over Rotating Cylinder??
« on: April 24, 2005, 03:48:23 PM »
Hey All,

I just bought a new Uberti (Stoeger) Cattleman, and the first time out shootin' it over rotates the cylinder, so the firing pin hits just to the left of the primer.  It only does this when I cock the hammer pretty fast.  Could this be the bolt, bolt spring?  Just wondering if its an easy fix or I should send er back to Stoeger to repair (4-6 weeks).  Thanks for all the help...

Howdy, I am no gunsmith, but the fact that it indexes pretty well slow and over indexes shooting fast would make me think the bolt wasn't strong enough or not fitting the slots properly. I would send it back. I had a bunch of similar problems with a cimmeron P model and they fixed it up. They said it was a bolt fit problem. It took me more like two months. I had a pair and when the other one started acting up I traded them to a dealer for a different brand/style ( rugers) I haven't had any problems with them as of yet. Yup, I would send it back. They are reputable.
