Slickest crud cutter I ever found
« on: May 11, 2005, 07:57:09 AM »
I read so many posts from Triple 7 users about the crud ring left just forward of the breech plug when shooting sabots. I've had  an Omega for a few years now and experimented with several cleaners in addition to water/soap to remove this ring. Last year out of desperation I happened onto the best one yet.
Go to a carpet supply store and ask for seam sealer solvent. Every store has it. "Honest to Pete!" you wet a patch with it and run 1 patch down the barrel and Presto Zappo it's gone!
This stuff dries in mere seconds, follow it with a oily patch and your done!
My buddy & I now keep a "Bore snake" in his kit with a small bottle of the solvent in his shooting kit for at the range. We unscrew the plug run the Snake thru once and put the plug back in then reload after every 4-6 shots.
I've been using it for about a year now at least 1 time each month year round I shoot no problems!!

That is great news!! Thank you for that. Man, you should bottle stuff like that and call it something different and make a bundle on that product. Name is something muzzleloady and it will sell, especially if you can sell the idea to a big company as their name will sell it for you, you just sell them the rights. Jack.

Do you have the brand name of the seam sealer solvent?  Is there a list of ingredients on the side of the can or bottle? Thanks for the tip.

I was out of town on work for awhile and just now sat down to a PC here at home...I'll check for the ingredient list and send you a message.
I think it is alot of denatured alcohol in it.
