Encore Turkey Barrel
« on: April 11, 2005, 12:07:51 AM »
Hello- This would be my first post, and I may be in the wrong place, But I thought I should ask you guys first. I got my Encore last deer season with a 25.06 barrel and love it. It's almost spring turkey season so I got the camo turkey barrel and camo stocks. Looks great, but I can't sight in the fiber optic sights, shoots high all the time. Had 3 friend try it and same thing. Almost a foot with the sight adjusted all the way down. Question is, has anyone run into this - is it a choke problem - or what? Patterns good, but I'll have to aim at the turkeys feet. terry123

I personally know of about 7 guns that did the same exact thing as yours (mine was one of them)!  Call TC and they will send you a taller front sight and this should fix your problem, at least it did mine and the other 6 guns I spoke of.  I don't know what the deal is but it is a common thing with the turk barrels.

Thanks DaddyPaul-
Got the new front sight friday and it fixed the problem. T/C shipped it and I got it in 3 days. Turkey season opened here in Missouri monday, but I am going today for the first time this spring. Lots of Turkey this year!! Have you tried the Limbsaver butt pad? My T/C is so light, that it kicks pretty good. I'm using Federal Mag-Shok Turkey loads and they pattern great. Thaks again- terry123

Terry,
I have had my turkey barrel for 2 years and the Limbsaver was one of the first things I did when I got it.  It helps a lot.  I shot the new Winchester Extended range #6's this year out of mine and had great results.  You will love the way the gun carries when running and gunning.  I have turned the lights off on 13 longbeards in the 2 years I have hunted with mine!  Good luck and let me know how you do up there in Missouri.
