I recently purchased a Lee Classic Cast press. I am very pleased with this item except for one thing, that being the cutout in the ram for the priming tool.

I prefer to prime with a hand priming tool & find that the cut out in the ram invites spent primers to spill.

I solved this problem by purchasing a piece of 1/4" key stock, cutting it to the correct length & grinding a taper to match that on the ram. I used JB Block Weld to secure this in place & the results have been good, not one spilled primer.

I thought I would share this as I am sure there are many of you that find spillage of spent primers to be an annoyance.

Just wondering, where are the spent primers supposed to go?  That is where they fall through on my RCBS.

The spent primers are routed through the hollow ram to a plastic tube which connects at the bottom of the ram. This tube is capped & to empty I place a trash bag under the tube & remove the cap to dispose of the old primers. Its a neat system, one of Lee's better efforts.

and i have been using a broom and dust pan all these years / got a picture of this gizmo,  would love to see it. might even try it myself :P

I should have taken a picture prior to JB Welding the piece into the press ram. However it is only a piece of 1/4" square key stock about 1.5" long with the lower end ground to match the taper on the cutout.

The Lee Cast Classic press has a hollow ram with a fitting on the bottom where a piece of capped plastic tubing attaches to collect the spent primers. I got tired ofthe primers falling through the priming arm cutout & simply impovised this fix.
