Man Spits in Jane Fonda's Face.

KANSAS CITY, Mo - Police said they arrested a man for spittingon two-time Academy Award-winning actress Jane Fonda during a book-signing stop in Kansas City Tuesday night.

Fonda, 67, spoke at Uity Temple, in The Plaza shopping district, about her new best-selling book, "My Life So Far," and her new movie with Jennifer Lopez called "Monster-in-Law."

At about 9 p.m., police said, a man who had been waiting in line for about 90 minutes, passed a book to Fonda and then spit a large amount of tobacco juice into her face.

They said the man then ran away and was taken into custody by off-duty officers, who were providing security for the event.

Fonda declined to prosecute the man.

Michael A. Smith, 54, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, which is a city charge.

In 1972, Fonda was photographed sitting in a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft tank. About her involvement in the Vietnam War, Fonda has apologized for her anti-aircraft tank photo. She has called it an incredible lapse of judgement.

Although I like seeing the traitor humiliated.....I don't agree with the "spitting" episode...

I do believe that Hanoi Jaane was correct in not trying to prosecute him...he is a Vietnam vet, suffering from post-traumatic syndrome..

Surely; in any trial, if the man were convicted or not...some old interesting facts would again come out about the traitor...

The local news covered it heavily, and interviewed him. He is still a Marine, a little older and a little grayer, and still, a lot more pissed off at her than I am. I do not go along with the spitting, I just do not watch her movies. The city may prosecute for disorderly conduct and if needed I will contribute to his defense fund. She owes us an apology not her "lack of judgement" line but; I am sorry it was wrong.

Her not pressing charges is about the only good press she has had in a while. Maybe it is true time heals all wounds and wounds all heels.

Maybe the spitting was needed to get her attention! Lord knows nothing else has! :shock: :shock: :shock: Myself I think the guy ought to get a medal!

As i said earlier; I don't agree with spitting on anyone...but if it HAD to happen to someone...there are very few better candidates...

Seriously; spitting on, throwing pies or anything else at public speakers or figures is plainly criminal assault and should be treated as such.

Jane fonda gave aid and comfort to a beaten enemy. She, kerry, and others, gave our enemy hope and strength to hang on. She made the war drag on, and on, and on, costing more American lives. She has American blood on her hands. I don't know if I could spit on anyone, even a traitor like her, but darn sure don't condemn anyone else for it. In a way I wish I had the guts to spit on her.
