Dave, respectfully, look at the context on this one. I don't know anyone on here that limits themselves to just one talk board. Someone was having trouble with another popular board, a couple people, including one Moderater here at GBs, was trying to help, because if you had read everything you would realize that the family of the other board is suffering a tradgedy right now and can't keep up on things quite as well as he would like to. No one has to "lure" anyone anyplace as each site is quite secure within the breadth of it's scope. There was no advertising, per se and no broken rule, IMO.   Blaine

Bill: Annabelle is real now :eek: Just the pic is phony. She runs several features now. She, too, has had tremendous personal strife of late and still mangages to stick with us and help provide leadership. ttt

I am personally very happy to have multiple sites to hang out and chat, learn, commiserate, and just be friendly with the gang.  I can only hope I was helpful to those that asked for information to be passed on and respectful of those of the marlinowners.com end who were unbeknownst to most of us, appropriately distracted.  When someone's family suffers we should all be tasteful and respectful.  And I think it was not only in good taste, but neighborly, for someone to advise the folks on this forum of what happened and how we  might offer our support.

So, even though some rules might sound a little funny to some people. With out them this place would probably be a zoo.

Bingo!

Although it may sound like a heart-warming idea, the notion of "one big happy internet family" doesn't work. Marlinowners is a great example of what happens when the rules aren't enforced. The Big Bore Rifle forum is anything BUT, and the sections devoted for off-topic posts of this type are unused.  After awhile, the "happy internet family" becomes a close-knit, closed-minded group that hijacks the board, and it loses its value as an information resource. And that happens all the time on unmoderated forums.

Rules on subject matter are important. Rules on cross advertizing are a good idea too.

So I sympathize with a family going through a tragedy, but the "Inspirational Messages and Thoughts" board is where the request should go.

It is also against the guidelines here to drag old grudges over from another board. I am totally understanding, tho....must be horrible to be asked to leave a place you hated so much :(

This is beginning to smack of personal attacks. It's on the verge of being gone for that reason. Follow the rules or drop it.

Look fellas;

Bill gives us a good sight and forum to post here, leave it at that. As far as Larry goes if he can't keep his sight going so be it. Just because it's not a Marlin owners only sight, so what! I was on the Marlin sight before it was droped by Marlin. I've come here and could not be happier.
Seems to me just a lot of frustation over there.
Just my opinion.
