I once owned a 22/45

the standard grips feel cheap.

I replaced mine with a set of laminated grips from Ajax Grips, which was a big improvement.

Dali Llama say he not think one able to replace grips on Ruger 22/45 due to polymer construction? :?  :?  :?

Well, the Buckmark was shipped back to Browning  three weeks ago and nothing yet.  I called Gander Mtn last week and they could tell me nothing.  I'll give it to the end of this week and call Gander again and have them contact Browning.  I'm anxious to shoot this little 22lr...

Whitetailer,

Hopefully it isn't a bad omen.............

I live right next door to you in Wyoming Co. and I used to buy most of my guns from Buffalo Gun when I was a road Deputy over here.
They're very decent folks to deal with. Especially when your in law enforcement.
I'm using a Ruger MarkII 5 1/2" BB. Just recently, I wanted to see if I could get my receiver drill & tapped at the factory to have the scope base put on.
Ruger in Prescott, AZ, said they couldn't due to where the process was done during assembly, but they focused on a minor defect that I mentioned with the receiver I had. They were using the defect for an excuse to replace the old receiver with a new one (wink, wink), and get me the new drilled receiver which I wanted.

They reconditioned and reblued the whole lower section to boot. It didn't need it really, but it was a nice touch. I saw the returned gun at my dealers and the reblue was so nicely done, it resembled the high polish blue on their M77 rifle barrels. My cost was zero dollars.
I love my Rugers, and the factory support is top notch.

The Browning Buckmarks are excellent guns and it's sad to hear of your troubles. But, I'm sure they'll rectify the whole issue.
The Ruger Hunter is a good option as well though. I'm buying a .44 Mag Hunter in another week or so. $505.00 for that rig.
I agree that $499.00 for the .22 Hunter seems steep, but maybe it's due to the extra cylinder.

We've got a surplus of "Reds" around here too, and this next season we're going to wreak havoc on them. We've stocked up our arsenal for the upcoming season........and until then, we'll practice on their ground cousins, the chucks

Good luck,
Bob

:cb2: I stand corrected (yet again). I picked up a new toy today (Cimarron Colt 1872 Open Top), and while I was there I checked on the price of the Ruger Hunter, and yep, you were right--$489 for all four models: .45, .44, .41, and .22LR/.22 Mag.

Almost 6 weeks now and no word from Browning...I am not too happy with them right now and doubt that I will ever buy a Browning product again.  I can see a repair taking 4 weeks but 6 weeks in inexcusable.  Especially when it was a brand new gun to begin with...I wish I had saved a little more money and purchased a Ruger Single Six Hunter in 22lr/22wmr.  Oh well, live and learn.

WNY,

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.....!
Nowaday's companies just can't conduct business that way and expect to stay in it.
In the last ten years or so the trend has been to be more & more customer oriented. Most US companies understand that, or have learned that, but Browning apparently hasn't.

If you're still considering the Ruger Hunter, their customer service is alive and well.
Recently, on my MkII, I wanted to get the bluing on the gun's receiver redone after an adverse reaction from some chemical cold blue ruined a spot. I called Ruger in Prescott, AZ, to inquire about the possibility. While the gun was there, I asked if he could have it drilled & tapped like the newer guns being sold.
The supervisor, Mike Smisko, told me that it couldn't be done on an older model within the factory because the process is done very early during manufacturing. He said that Ruger is setting up to be able to do it on older models, but hasn't gotten there yet.
I was explaining the condition of the gun and what had happened during the cold blue incident, when I also explained that the dovetail on the rear sight had apparently been cut off center as the rear sight was always tipped.
He immediately cued in on that and said (comically), "Oh, so what you're telling me is that your gun is defective ???"..........not being too quick on the uptake, I did a "HUH?"........."you're telling me that your gun is defective, right ?"
"UH, yeah, that's it.....defective !!!" I eventually got his point, and laughed.

He told me to send the gun in and they'd take care of it. I got the gun back a month or so later......
-New reciever-drilled & tapped
-Whole lower section was polished & reblued similar to the M77 rifle barrels, and rebuilt with new parts......excellent quality & far better than original.          VERY HAPPY!

Not to ramble on, but I've owned Ruger's since I was able to carry handguns, and their rifle's before that.......although the isolated incidents can happen here & there, I've never been disappointed by them ever, and they've always gone out of their way to keep me happy.
Which they did

Try the Browning whenever you "finally" get it back, but if it all leaves a sour taste in your mouth and the Ruger is considered, rest assured they'll take care of you.

Take er' easy,
Bob

Ya, wish I would've caught this post earlier...  Last month, I picked up my squirrel pistol...Beretta U22 Neos.  Got it for a bargain, $185 NIB from Gander Mountain.  Say what you will due to its cheap price, but she loves cheap ammo, and plenty accurate.

Good luck with that Browning...

OK, I called Browning today and they said that my gun was delivered back to Gander Mtn on the 4th?  I called Gander last week and they said that it was not in yet.  Well, I called again today and again they said that it was not in.  I advised the gunsmith of what Browning told me and he looked back in the shipping and receiving.  When he came back to the phone he notified me that shipping/receiving has been real busy but he did find my pistol.  That gun had been there for 6 days    Well...Now I need to mount my Weigand scope rail, the Weaver rings and the Simmons red dot site...I'll let you all know how that little PITA shoots.

I took the Buckmark out to my friends property last weekend and fired about 40 rounds through it.  No issues in the first 40 shots...I will try to put some more rounds through it soon...I was shooting CCI Blazers.  I have some other ammo to try out too...At my next range session I will be dialing in my Red Dot Site.  It's close now but I want it dead on.

Buy a Ruger. I have been using them for over 30 years now with complete satisfaction. Here are some pics of my small game.
