First I just want to say hi Im new to this fourm? I am looking at getting a handi and cant figuer out what cal. to get. I would like to get something to hunt cyoties and mule deer with. Is there any cal. out there that are able to do both? I am a avid hand gun shooter but would love to get a handi to hunt with. Any info will help. Thanks!

.25/06 or .270. I would lean towards the .270 thoguh, you can go from 90 gr all the way up to 150 gr and a little more with Barnes bullets. Jack.

The 25-06 is a good choice, I use 75 gr V Max for yotes and 120 gr speer for white tail deer here in Wisconsin. My other choice would be the .270 because you can go with higher grain bullets and it is a fine cartridge

i would say 25-06 but i wouldn't over look the 243 ,if you hand load . you said that you are a handgun hunter so you already know a lot about shot placement and the range of your gun . i've seen a number of good kills with a 100 grain bullet out of a 243 but if you want to be more on the safe side go ahead and get the 25-06 it could handle mule deer in its sleep. and its real fun to see a coyote get hit by one (i hope you don't save hides)
