Buff Classic Tang?
« on: May 01, 2005, 02:57:06 PM »
Hey all,

Has anybody mounted a tang sight on the 45-70 Buffalo Classic?

Which sight (manuf.) was it and how did you mount it?

Did you have to add a tang on to the receiver body?

Were you happy with the finished product?

I'm looking to build a 32-40Win, as I've got the pattern for the block and extractor, but I want the nicer woodwork as well as the big boomer for other classes of shooting.

Thanks in advance.

Check out the little write-up I did on my Buffalo Classic.  Lee Shaver installed mine and it was a beautiful setup.  unfortunately, my eyes didn't want to cooperate with a peep sight, so I let it go.

The sight was screwed into a false tang, inletted into the wrist of the stock.  Very secure and accurate.  I do think a sight mounted on the barrel has to be the MOST accurate ainse the barrel does have a minor amount of movement.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
