Good news. Just received a flyer today,4/25/05,about a new barrel program. Most rifle barrels are $5 off plus free labor and fitting, that's $20 a barrel savings.
I'm sending 2 receivers tomorrow to be fitted,17HRM/7.62x39.

Great!!! I just got my reciever back a few days ago with 2 fitting fees and such and paid top dollar for barrels too!!! I guess I have to order a couple more just to make up for what I spent!!!....<><.... :-D

Ok, now that I got that out of my system (and bank account), tell me more about this deal, is it offered by the factory? How did you get the flyer? Where can I get one?....<><.... :?

Might be time to get that ML barrel.  Did you need a coupon?

I just spoke to H&R, they said the program is still so new they are unsure how it is going to be run, if the printed offer has to be presented with the order or not. They were discussing it yesterday and felt that if the printed offer was required that perhaps it could be passed from the person that received it to another person for use. They are still unsure how the program is going to work. I just got my 30-06 Ultra Comp barrel and 20 gauge smoothbore rifle sighted Tracker I barrels back fitted to a receiver but did not receive a coupon in the box. I have no idea how they are handing them out. I was told it is a brochure similar to the Barrel Accessory brochure but I don't even know if they have seen one yet or who is sending them out....<><.... :?

So does it exclude shotgun or muzzleloader?

Do you think it was prompted by sending in the warranty card on the target model?

The customer service guy I spoke with said he had never even seen the NEF web site.  So I'm not suprised that they don't know much about their own special offers.  They've got a major communication issue...

so I guess you had to send in some customer registration to HR to get that coupon.  I as a rule, never register with any manufacturer.

I spoke with H&R customer service. They advised that the offer was sent to customers that purchased rifles in the last year and mailed in their warranty card. This was done to increase business during the summer months which is a slow period for service department. That is why it expires in September. They said that the order sheet must be used however all you have to do is call and they will mail one out. I'm taking a strong look at the 7.62 x 39 and if its ready in time, the 500 S&W.

Quickdtoo, do they have barrels "other" that listed on the web site?

I have not participated in this forum for several months, and it seems I have gotten a bit behind on what is currently available.

I would truly be interested in another barrel, maybe two, but their current pricing is pushing me away.

Russ,

Yes, they do.....the .204 Ruger is available at this time as well as some .357mag barrels that they may have left over from a run of 100 earlier this year. The 7.62x39 is supposed to be available soon and maybe the 500S&W sometime late this year. A call to Jennifer at H&R will confirm availability of any of these.....They also may have some 30-06 UltraComp barrels left as well as some mannlicher forends!!!

The flyer has all the available barrels,I assume they are available as of the date I received it 4/25/05, highlighted in red as is the word ''FREE'' fitting and labor. It's the same as the old flyer except it lists 7.62x39.

Tim, Thanks a bunch!

I just ordered a new Mannlicher Forend....$30 + ship, should have it by Friday according to Jennifer.

I have not even seen a picture of it, so I have no clue as to what I bought. It sounded good though.  :coffee:  :yeah:

Also, she is sending me a list / catalog of all the new "stuff"...whatever that may mean.

Thanks again for the information.

Holy Smoke! I did gooood!  (IMHO)

I like that!

Thanks again for all the help Tim. Now I can't wait for it to get here. I'm also anxious to see what other "goodies" she is sending.

The telephone line to H7R 1871 is a very busy operation! I waited the first time for a little over 10 minutes. I hung up, got myself another cup of Jo and dialed again, preparing to wait it out this time. I only had to wait about 4 / 5 minutes when she answered.

Business must be good! And that could be good for us guys too...depending on how you look at such things.

Thanks a whole bunch........ :D
Respectfully, Russ

I'd say it's a 22" hornet barrel, looks to be close to the same as my 22" 45-70 barrel in relation to the forend length, maybe ½" shorter or the forend is longer on the Topper or way shorter on a 20" barrel.... :? He doesn't tell much about it.

I called and have my catalog and coupon in route.  They must have a lot of these requests because she just got busy with the info taking.

Now I need to decide which 223 barrel.  Im leaning to the regular 22" for now.  I have a 22" bull on my 243 and the gun is a little more heavy than I would like for a "pea shooter"  gun.  I wish my 243 was the 24" bull version however.

I got mine, the order sheet with all of the Red lettering

 8)

As I read it, the price will be listed price per barrel, plus 10 dollars per frame sent.  So if I get 2 barrels on one frame, there will only be one 10 dollar charge??  Correct?
