Has anyone had any luck shooting long pointed rifle bullets (200-250 gr.) out your 357 contender?

Nope but I have tried 180 gr. SSP Hornady .358" bullets that shot excellent out of .357 max.
Given the limited range a .357 has there really is no particular advantage to using SP bullets. So my favorite is a 200 Sierra RN that is very accurate and hits like a hammer.

I shoot 240 grain cast gas check bullets from a mountain mould in my 357 contender carbine bullberry barrel, they are very accurate...not very fast, but very accurate.

personally I would jump up to 41mag or 44 mag if I wanted to use over 158gr bullets. It can be done easily enough with a 357 I just think to keep up velocity and penitration you need more speed. You might try some of the new hunting bullets being made in 357 in 158gr range. Where I hunt a 100-300 yards shot is common so I will use a Encore pistol in 308 win.

i have had great luck with 185gr. lbt design cast bullets. they shoot good out to 150yds or so. and i shot two hogs with them. the hogs went down pretty fast. both were good shots, within about 50yds. my 21 inch contender carbine is very accurate with them.
