Optics - Mueller?
« on: May 06, 2005, 07:13:11 AM »
I need some help. I usually only read and post on this forum and the deer hunting forum.  So this is a little OT, but I want input from the guys I "know".

I just got my "new" mauser sporter back from the gunsmith.  It is still in 8mm and now I need a scope...

I have been considering a mueller 4-16x50.  I have read the reviews and researched the posts here.  Most of what I see here is from guys mounting them on small bore stuff.

Does anyone have one mounted on a "deer rifle"  - 30-06, 308, 7mm mag.

Thanks for the input!!

I have it mounted on my .243 Ultra Varmint shooting 85gr-100gr loads, it works fine. If you read the reviews at www.MuellerOptics.com you'll find that the Eraticator which is built the same as the Sport Dot and Tactical has been tested on the 375H&H and 50BMG, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it on mild recoiling rifles like the '06, 308 and 7mag. I also have the 2-7x32 Multi-shot mounted on my 30-30, an Eraticator mounted on my .204 Ruger and a 3-10x44 Sport Dot mounted on a .280 Remington Handi. Just got a sample 8.5-25x44 Mildot scope from Mueller for testing and review, but it's on a 17hmr for the time being. I would probably be more concerned about the 3ΒΌ" eye relief on the Muellers when placed on a harder recoiling caliber, specially if you're a stock crawler, being bit by a scope even on the calibers mentioned would be no fun.
