The question of whether a bad day at the range (or hunting, or fishing) is better than a good day at work is a real conundrum for me. I just haven't come around to seeing it that way. What is wrong with me?

I can understand ....if you love your job. I work to play so there is no conundrum for me. I like my work but basically it allows me to do the things I really enjoy.......hunting/shooting. Few...if any days hunting/shooting are really that bad anyway.

Being retired, there's no such thing as a bad day, they're all good, regardless of what I'm doing!!! :-D :-D :-D

I used to really enjoy my job. Now it is only a means to make money legally. I work so I (and my family can live), give to the Lord's work and buy a few items for fun.

A bad day at work = my students (soldiers) don't understand Russian (the language they are trained in) and act like illiterate fools.

A bad day at the range = I doubt MY skills until the next time I have free time to go back to the range (maybe a week or two)

YOU do the math!

I can always compensate for OTHER'S failures!

Questor, you are fortunate and among the few in that you enjoy your work that much. I'm self-employed and if I'm doing a job I like and the profit is good I rather enjoy being there. However, on these nice spring days we've been experiencing lately even that doesn't keep me from wanting to be on the creek with my fly rod or in the squirrel woods with my flintlock.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with you and you should be grateful your job is that pleasant. Enjoy it while it lasts!!!!

Questor old buddy, it soounds as if you are having a bad day. I think it is always a bad day whenever a man raises a question like that, so I have to tell you that I thoroughly agree with quickdtoo and strongly recommend that you open a bottle of Hoppes #9, take a few whiffs, load up your range bag and have a day of it, good or bad. That's just my honest opinion. If you would like, I will even send you a bore patch scented by the Hoppes that you can keep handy so you don't have to open the bottle every time (lol).

You're right about the "bad day" part. I've been having a bad day for the past two years. Today is May 6th, the fifth Monday of the week.

Depends on what parameters you are using to define a bad day at the range. The day I caught the blast from a short barrel wearing a brake at the adjacent bench and developed tinnitus (was wearing muffs and plugs at the time or it would have been far worse) made a day at work look mighty attractive.

Yep. That's a perfect example of a bad day at the range. Reminds me of the time somebody touched off a 300 magnum with a muzzle brake at an indoor range. He was about 10 feet away behind a few lane separators and the blast picked up my gun box and moved it six inches. I left.
