I bought one about a year ago for my son and have been pleased so far. Now its not a ruger single six but at the price I paid I have been pleasently suprised.  Finish is a little bit shaky, but for a 10yr old he just thinks its cool.  I think you'll have fun with it.
BTW I got a 3.5in birdshead for $100.00 new

I assume yours is a .22. They make a .17 HMR also. I have 2 of the .22's, had problems with one which the factory replaced. I like the guns. Paid $120 each. My dealer just ordered another for me, I want one with a 4 5/8" barrel. Finish ain't bad for a cheap gun. Accuracy is certainly acceptable for the groove sight they have. Not a Single Six but I can buy 2 + a brick or two of ammunition for the price of one Single Six. I have a couple of the Rugers too, both great guns.

What problem did your Heritage have?  I have one and I don't believe mine has a forcing cone :shock:
How did you go about getting it fixed?

Moose - I had serious leading between cylinder and barrel, bullets keyholing. Took it to the dealer and he sent it to the factory. When I got it back - about 2 weeks - on about the third shot a case seperated and blew the loading gate open. Tried another brand of ammunition and all went well - for 5 or 6 shots. Then the same thing happened. The factory replaced it with a new one, no charges, even for shipping. BTW, I never sent in the warranty on the gun and when I first returned the gun it was well beyond the warranty period of one year. I had just never gotten around to using the gun before that.

Get yours back to Heritage - they don't seem to dispute any problems.

I will do that.  I have noticed that when shooting in low light conditions, ALL the fire comes out the left side.  I know something is wrong, so I will take it to where I got it and see what happens.

Left hand side - sounds REAL familiar. Looks like they had a run of guns where the alignment was out of whack. Mine showed the EXACT same in the dark. Shaved lead on the left side too. Absolutely no problems with the replacement they sent.

Heres the whole story to my Rough Rider.  I bought one a gun show from a gun shop up northern KY.  I shot it for a while and didn't like that it wasn't shooting to POA (or shooting to ANYWHERE specificly).  My dad shot it and he kinda liked it.  He owns a couple Single-Six's and wanted another one to just practice his "point shooting."  He owns it now so I will try to get him to get it fixed.  If it works ok after that I may get one of the short ones in the Birds Head grip frame. :grin:

How accurate is your fixed Heritage?  Does it shoot to POA very well?

I'll bet that gun is shaving lead. My experience with their service has been good response - they evidently couldn't fix the one so they replaced it, no question about anything. Turnaround time was about 2 weeks - not bad.

Both of mine are pretty good shooters for the basic sights they have - not benchrest quality, but I'm completely satisfied with them. Like I said, I've ordered another with the short barrel. The only thing I dislike about the newer ones is the hammer - look at it and you'll see what I mean. UGLY.
