39 AS misfires
« on: May 04, 2005, 01:11:06 AM »
I attempted to lighten my trigger pull by shortening the hammer spring, but it weakened it to the point that it didn't have enough force to dent the cartridge. So I ordered (by now a total of 3 hammer springs from Brownell's) and still get misfires. Action is very clean and well lubed. I don't know what the cause is other than the springs I have ordered aren't strong enough.

It would be very unusual to get 3 dud hammer springs, almost impossible in my experience.

I would be looking at the rebounding hammer safety and the hammer block safety to make sure you have not bumped something out of alignment or misaligned something. Also check that the firing pin is installed correctly and the hammer is not binding.

Just check things one at a time and eliminate them. Things will then fall into place sooner rather than later.
