« on: May 20, 2005, 01:32:46 PM »
Just for fun, I decided to try forming a 338-06 case from 270 brass since I have lots(thanks Jeff!!)....then I decided I might as well load one up minus powder and primer, for now.....here's the results....338-06 w/250gr Sierra Gameking boat tail on the left and 30-06 w/200gr Nosler Partition on the right.

Have you used the 200gr Nosler in your Handi before?  If so how did yhey do?

Wonder how recoil will compare between the two?

It shoots extremely well!!! That was in my UltraComp, I suspect the 26" 338-06 is gonna kick quite a bit more with 50gr more bullet and not being compensated....

2 days in pretty much normal for priority anywhere in CONUS.....I retired from the PO after 32yrs service in '02.....USPS service is good!!! I only live 35 miles from Wayne, 32 of that is on Interstate 5, so ya know how my barrels got to him!!! When he moves to Pendleton, I'll be using the USPS too!! Hopefully that will be after we get our barrels back from him!!

Well..the excitement has already wained on this 45-100 thing anyway so maybe it won't be too much longer.....now.. I ordered one of the Leatherwood Wm.Malcolm Period scopes to mount on a Browning 1885 in 45-70....it's on backorder too... :(  At least I got the upcoming PD shoot to give me some instant gratification!! (hopefully! ) That and I got a big ribeye steak with my name on it  thawin on the kitchen counter for tonight... :)
