Does anyone know if there are names for the different Monte carlo stocks? And which one would still allow me to see the stock sights on my BC? I would really rather have the Monte Carlo stock if it will work with my stock sights.
If it won't, the straight stock is the one like on the shotguns and is larger (taller) than the original one on the BC and pad that is a bit softer, right?
I hope what I am about to share is not sacrilege to this group, and will not get me banished, but just to let you in on what I am working on. My aunt is an artist and I went to Africa last summer. She wanted to paint a rifle to commemorate my trip with pictures of me with my trophies on the stock. She has done several of these and she was going to do it on a cheap BB gun, but I thought if she was going to go to all that effort I wanted it on something special. And I love any excuse to buy a gun. So I started looking around for an inexpensive rifle that I also thought was cool in and of itself. I want to be able to use this rifle for bison, black bear, etc. and I want to use the original sights. The Monte Carlo stock would give her more room to work. I figure if I am not happy with it when she is done, I can always replace the stock. But if she does a great job, I want it to be functional as well as a display piece. I am a believer that guns should be shot.
Thoughts?
