Remington question(s).

I have a chance to pick up a Remington nylon 11. What is the going rate for this discontinued rifle. The bluing is about 50% and it is  rusty. The bolt is still shiny as well as the bore. Everything seems to work and functions when the bolt is opened. I did notice that if the rifle isn't on safety and the bolt is opened and closed quickly that the sear will not fully engage and the firingpin will move forward. Works fine if the safety is engaged. Can't locate the clip as yet. Are there any out there to be found? I loaned out my Gun parts book so I can't look it up to find any information. Thanks, Worm.

My 2000 Wilson guide shows it at 50 for fair and a 100 for VG. Since it is rusty  and poor blueing I would expect even cleaned up if pitted is not going to be worth much so you might as well hang on to it as a shooter. These prices are probably a bit low considering the book is 5 years old. Still with the shape it is in and with no clip I would have been hesitent at 50 so I hope you did not pay much for it. Try 0000 or 000 steel wool with gun oil to take the rust off. That should take of the rust and leave the blueing intact unless you get really aggressive. Sounds like ya got a gunsmiths special. Thanks for the reply. Any idea on how to disassemble the rifle from the stock? I removed the only screw on the bottom of the stock, but the trigger guard won't come out so I can get to the trigger assembly to clean it. I thought I might have to move the sights to get it out of the barrel and action out of the stock. I wanted to see what the barrel looked like under the forearm cover. I haven't bought the rifle yet, but told my neighbor that if she could find the clip I would give her 75.00 for it. I'm going to take the rifle out and shoot it today and see how it shoots. I really like those sights on it. Thanks again, Worm.

If you can clean it up and she finds the clip I guess 75 is fair as most used 22's no matter what they are average that in the used rack at the gun shops. Books give you a idea on price but thats about it. What the market will bear and how bad you want it usually is the price guide.

I couldn't find it in any of my newer gun books, but did find it in my 1997 Firearms Values and it was about the same prices you had said. I used some 0000 steelwool and some nitro solvent and removed a lot of the rust from the barrel. I found clips for the rifle in an older Gun parts catolog for 14.95, which I thought wasn't to bad. My son really likes the rifle and I want to use it to run traps with. My neighbor still hasn't made up her mind on selling it or not, but she has let me borrow it indefinitely. Either way I get to use it for a while. Worm
