Did NEF / H&R make a .308 ultra SS?
« on: May 12, 2005, 09:56:09 AM »
It seem as if I recall seeing a SS Fluted .308 varmint class NEF rifle a while back. Can anyone confirm that or otherwise set me straight.

I am in the market for a target class NEF.308 winchester. I'm thinking about doing a re-barrel on my .30-06 Savage 110, but then I wouldn't be able to compete in the NEF postal matches.
no x now!

RV, the only fluted barrels I've seen from H&R are the blued .22-250, .223 and .204 ruger ultras, of which not all are on shelves yet. The only fluted stainless barrels that I've seen are from Marlin in the new 917VSF 17hmr. Maybe next year, but those current fluted barrels from H&R/Marlin are somewhat disappointing in that the flutes are real shallow and not full barrel length as they are usually made....kind of a cosmetic flute. :(
