Another trip to the ER
« on: April 28, 2004, 03:56:40 PM »
I seem to be the one in the family to make all the stupid mistakes.

This latest time I was pushing a broadhead on to a shaft and it slipped.

I've got seven stitches in my palm as a result.

The lesson is "THOSE THINGS ARE SHARP!!!"  Use pliers next time, you stupid idiot - lol.

Take care and play safe everyone.  Heed all those lessons you learned about handling sharp objects.
um, er, yeah.  okay.

I can't believe you could get cut by puting a broadhead on.  I have always done it with knives and saws. :)   Hopefully it does not slow you down much.

Don't feel bad. I had one of those old clip-on bow quivers (no broadhead cover) and used single Bear covers,  taped on! Well, while stringing my old Pearson recurve, the (oh, yeah) cheap bow stringer I had, broke. Three stitches left side of chin. That's many years ago. I was seventeen. (Wonder how I got this old!)Stuuupid!

I was the butt of many jokes at the er, including some of the following:

"How did the indians fare?"

"Haven't seen one of those in about oh a hundred years."

"This shot may sting, but what the heck, it's nothin' compared to an arrow"

"Well look at the bright side, at least they didn't gut you."

Thanks to all for the kind words, and for not pointing and laughing (too much, anyways).

Parks.
um, er, yeah.  okay.

If it happened gluing on the head, make up a wood jig with a deep "V" in it that will hold a broadhead and when ready to apply the pressure put the head in the V and push "down".

That REALLY must have hurt.  :x
