pentax pioneer
« on: May 11, 2005, 10:24:48 AM »
At my local gun shop they have a pentax pioneer 3x9x40  that I looked at the other day. It apears to be a fairly nice scope, I know that burris makes the pentax line of scopes. It is the same size as the burris FF II, but did pentax have burris put a better coating on the lenses. Or is the pioneer and the FF II the same scope of a different name.
If anyone has some information or opinions on the pentax pioneer or the burris FF II please respond. I will mount it on either my 338 wm or my 35 whelen, both ruger rifles.
Thanks for any info good or bad.    45 north

I have heard (no personal experience) that the Pentax Pioneer is essentially a FFII with Pentax proprietary lens coatings.  I would like to know myself if this is true because I'm a big fan of the FFII as far as bang for the buck goes.  The FFII is a very good scope.

Thanks for the reply Grubbs
That is about what I thought. I might try to get the one at my local gun shop and give it a try.     45 north
