Ruger .22/45 SS Target model with Leupold Red dot--rabbit, rats, squirrel,
        prairie dogs, gophers, possums, skunks, spruce grouse, etc.

Various .41Magnums with iron sights and various optics--armadillos,
        coyote, antelope, mule and whitetail deer, black bear, bobcat, turkey,
        elk, duiker, wart hog, wild boar, blue wildebeeste, impala, blesbock,
        red hartebeeste, bushbuck, and a couple old nasty range cows.

T/C Encore in '06 with Burris 3-9X EER scope-- wart hog, blesbock, kudu,
         and an oryx

Contender in 7mmJDJ with Burris 2-7x EER scope-- prairie dogs, coyote,
         antelope, mule and whitetail deer, and a raccoon.

Contender in .309JDJ with Leupold 4x EER scope--antelope, coyote, elk

Contender in .223Rem. with 3-9X Burris EER scope--rats, prairie dogs,
          gophers, crows, coyote, and a feral cat

I'll let it go at that for now. I'm planning a three week hunting vacation in Alaska in two years and may check out the .500 S&W Magnum in an SSK Encore barrel for moose and black bear. RKBA!  :D

What caliber what game

22 lr - small game up to 50 pounds or so, empty cans, plastic bottles, bowling pins, clay pigeons.

357 - small game or big game up to 150 pounds or so, empty cans, plastic bottles, etc.

44 Mag - big game up to 3-400 pounds or so.  

Anything between a 22 lr and 357 - small game.

Anything between 357 and 44 mag - up to 150-200 pounds or so.

Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

Ruger Super Redhawk 480 7 1/2" tube w/ factory sights.  The only game I've had walk in front of it during hunting season was a few spruce hens, they were very effectively taken with my plinker load, which consists of a 310 gr LFN over a small dose of red dot for 700 fps.

My big game load is currently a 460 gr WFN @ 1050 fps.  Now if I can just get a legal moose to walk in front of it this fall  :lol:

I'm sure that I've missed a few however these are some of the calibers and critters for me. As I've said in Sixgunner Mag. my goal is to take a deer with a different caliber or different bullet each year.
