Can I stamp a commercial gunbelt?
« on: June 08, 2005, 09:06:14 AM »
Ok, I have a couple of nicely tooled leather holsters, but my gunbelt is an old 'hunter' and is plain.  What I am wondering is, can I by the stamps and decorate this belt to match the holster?  Does it just require getting the belt wet (saturated) to do or can it not be done after it is processed commercially?  Suggestions?  (short of buying another belt at this time)  44 Man

44 Man,
As long as the belt has not been oiled ("Hunters" do not come that way), and will take on water, you can tool it.
It must be only dampened, not saturated.  If it has some sort of laquered or waxed treatment on the surface, you can still work it by dampening from the back side with a wet sponge.   :D
