It ALL came today!
« on: May 20, 2005, 02:39:28 PM »
I got my receiver and barrels from NEF today.  13 day turn-around.  That's good!  The Tracker I 20ga has the standard Tracker sight.  The 45-70 has Williams sights.  WOW, does that 12ga 22" look sweet.  Can wait till I can get'em all cleaned and head out to do some shooting.

Also, my Smithy sent an E to me and he receiver my nickel receiver, purchased from the classifieds.  Thanks, David.  I'll be picking that up tomorrow.

Yes, I know, it may take a few days, but I will get pics up as soon as I can.

Congrats Rich!!! That's good news, I sent my BC frame in today for a 45-70 BC barrel for it, almost ordered a 38-55 barrel for it too for a rebore/rechamber to 405 winchester, but decided to wait until I see how the 338-06 rebore comes out....

Turn-Around

YEP!  I was surprised.  I was hopin' it would turn fast, but really wasn't expecting it to.  Very pleased with the service and dealings I have had with them.  Even answering my email.  Usually the same day if I send it early in the morning.
Good Luck with the BC.

I actually called H&R today, as I am having a slight problem with an Ultra I just bought.  The barrel has a lot of lateral play when its locked up with the action, especially with the forearm off.  The customer rep told me to send it in, and they would fix it for me.  I asked how long I can expect to wait, and she responded with "about a week or two".

Awesome!

Since the turn around time is so short, I'm going ahead and having a .223 barrel fit to the receiver.  I also asked if the barrel fitting would take any longer, and she said it should still be around a week.  I'm mailing the gun off Priority in the morning, so we'll see!

:D  So if I anticipate similar turn around from what I have read above, the longest I'll probably have to wait for my 357 and 30/30 barrels is six more days!

Yee-ha! :cb2:

I sent a Ultra 223 back because it had a rough chamber. They received it on Friday(13th), and shipped it out to me on the following Wednesday(18th)! In that time they cleaned up the chamber and converted the ejector to extractor. Hope it gets here before the 25th. Leaving for a week and a half of pdog shooting.

IIRC, John told Mac that they can't convert a barrel from ejector to a mechanical extractor due to the different underlug, they would have replaced the barrel which would be much easier than cutting the old lug off and welding a new lug on. Old style on the bottom....

Just going by what I was told on phone. But if they replaced my 16 inch 223 Ultra barrel I think I'll know it when I pull it out of the box.

Please let us know the outcome, Wally. They can convert the ejector to a spring driven extractor real easy, FWIW....but it doesn't cure the stuck case issue which the mechanical extractor does.   It wouldn't be the first time they've given out misinfo, too.... :(
