How is this for a finish? Seems anymore you can do most metal finishes at home. I just am curious as I have from PacNor a rebarreled .338-06 action that will need some enamel. Since the cost of Rust Bluing is in the sky high neighborhood might as well do a home job. Any experience with you fellas have I SURE would like to hear.

I haven't used DuraBake, but I've used Lauer DuraCoat with great results. I use it on all of my firearms. DuraCoat can be baked on or you can let it cure on its own. I've always let it cure on its own and have been very satisfied with it. The picture shows my Remington M7 with a matte black duraCoat finish. MI VHNTR

what do you have for spray "tool"- air brush etc.. naval jelly works pretty good on metals then degrease, Lauer has some kind of surface prep or something of the kind to use first then the enamel or what? Looks like a good job from here. How does it wear for you?

I use a good airbrush to spray the DuraCoat. I prep the surface with a good cleaner (BrakeKleen works well) and then go over it with DuraCoat reducer while wearing rubber gloves. The rifle can't be too clean before you refinish it. DO NOT touch the part to be coated with your bare hands while prepping it. I've had zero problems as far as the durability of the finish. MI VHNTR
