Scope for .223
« on: May 21, 2005, 04:12:38 PM »
I have a .223 Encore rifle that I will be primarily using to predator hunt with. My shots will not be over 150 yards, what is a good scope for this set up. I thought about a Bushnell Trophy3x9x40. I dont wont to be overscoped since Im not shooting over 150 yards

I would suggest a Burris Ballistic Plex or Mueller ....... both are good glass and reasonable prices.

One thing you need to watch for is if you buy too cheap of a  scope, it may change zero as you change powers. In that case you end up with a fixed power scope.

I would go with the 3X9X40 Leupold, for what you wanted.  :D

Nice Scopes - Burris has been good to me over the years / B-Plex is for distance shooting - nice. Burris 3-9x40 B-Plex Mat ......  take a look

3-9 because you can't shoot what you can't see.
If you trade the rifle - keep the scope.

Burris Sig Rings with Inserts for me.

Can not go cheap on a scope, rings or mount. Movement & Parallax - both make your rifle shoot like a scattergun even with you doing things perfect / has driven many good riflemen nuts.

The 3 x 9 is ideal. The only scopes I buy any more are all Leupolds. I bought 2 Burrius scope and both were bad. I have had trouble with every brand of scope I`ve owned except Leupold. I bought my first Leo in 1968 and now have over 30 of them. I hear their service is good, but I`ve never had call to use it.
