Was surfin on E-bay and saw a box of 22 cal bullets w/GC for 22 cal...sized .225....Maybe I have just never noticed before but is this common? Spot checking thru some cast bullet sites....I haven't seen any other offered......wonder if it was a custom mold .... :roll: Any of our other cast bullet shooters heard of molds for 22 cal?

I don't have the mould but I have a bunch of those bullets. I don't even recall where I got them. I am going to buy a rifle someday to go with them. :grin:

Lee doesn't sell them, but just about everyone else sells .22 molds.

I think you ought to be castin', besides there is nothing more important than what you feed your Handi :grin: Strikes me though that you may have fewer gray hairs if you start with something a little bigger in diameter.

LOL...Your prolly right JPH45....I have been looking at the Lyman starter kit in a catalog that is in the "Library" for some time now....LOL I just hate to buy something and immediately after using it for a while wish I had gotten something else.....but guess it's a way to get into it....

Casting bullet's is a great way to save money. I have been at it for almost 20 years. One thing that realy help's is if you have the time. Myself being disabled for over 20 year's I have nothing but time.I would not be able to shoot as much as I do if I did'nt cast. I cast several cal's 30, 38 45 and 9mm both pistol and rifle. I shot one of the deer I got last season with a 45/70 with a 300gr bullet cast from a weelweight, Get the cast bullet book from Lyman,lot' of good info ******************ogo

Well..might just have to get started on this after the PD shoot is over...the basic Lyman Master casting starter kit has a 10 # pot , 450 bullet sizer/lubricator, long handle dipper ,ingot mould and a Lyman manual. is this about all one needs to get started or is there anything else to make life easier?

? I'd want to load for justa bout everything you load for...mainly the big 45 cal bullets for the 45-70....

Before you jump in, go to MidwayUSA and look at the Lee pots[bottom pour only], the Lee molds, with handles included and the Lee base push sizers.
You can get a Lee setup for about 1/3 what the rest want, 10% if you look at some of the companies.
I have about 30 molds, Lee, Lyman, Kirkland and RCBS. the only one I have had problems with is the RCBS.
Do some looking around, it is possible to start casting for a very modest investment and have a lot of fun on the cheap.

Your old coleman stove, a couple of $2 pots from wal-mart, a dipper, an old spoon to stir, an old muffin pan, and a mold are about all you need to give it a try. The Lee lube and sizers work well and are inexpensive. That way you could see if you like casting without forking over the bucks for a nice setup.

All the fancy casting equipment ain't worth beans if you don't have a source of cheap/free lead. Look and aquire first.
I don't even figure the cost of the bullet when figuring how much it costs to reload a cartridge unless it takes a gas check.

Casting can be time consuming, but if you think about it as just another hobby it won't bother you. Casting is my favorite part of reloading. I love seeing all them purty silver bullets - the Lone Ranger would be impressed. :-)

Thanks guys...good advise here....I just may give it a try...

Corse I'm spoiled the way I get cast bullets now...I call a buddy in Ohio ,tell him what I want and they come in my mail box... :-D
