Crimping Questions
« on: May 26, 2005, 01:52:45 PM »
Hi guys,

thanks for all the feedback on my last post.  My question now is how do you know when the right amount of crimp is aquired?  Right now, I am crimping my 9mm cartridges so that there is a shiny ring of shaved metal around the mouth of the case? Is this to much? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,
Preston

Don't experiment! Look for the measurement of the recommended diameter of the brass at the case mouth after your bullet is seated. I don't know the diameter for 9mm, but you should find out before continuing.

Basically your just ironing out the flare, plus a little. If it feels like a little resistance at the top of the stroke you should be just fine.   KN
