Crosman 1377??
« on: May 28, 2005, 06:26:59 AM »
I just bought a Crosman 1377 and was wondering how realistic the 600fps. velocity claim is.
Anbody here replace the plastic breech with an aftermarket one? I'm looking to scope it and this seems to be the most secure method.

I have 2 1377’s and 1 1322 and I have had all of them “customized”.  I had Jim at Crooked Barn, http://www.crookedbarn.com/new_page_7.htm, replace the breech system with one of his Ultimate Breech and Bolt system on each.  As for the 600 fps. rating that Crosman gives they(Crosman) achieved that using lighter weight pellets that you or I can’t normally get a hold of.  The very best I was ever able to achieve with mine before “customizing” them was 542 fps. using Beeman H&N pellets.  I prefer the Crosman 1377 over the  Benjamin/ Sheridan version.  Lawdog

everything you always wanted to know about hopping up the 1377, and lots of things you didn't know you wanted (not yet anyway), can be found here:

Crosman 1377??

Crosman claims they are using 7.9 grain pellets for their velocities.  I've never seen a 1377 get 600 fps @ 10 pumps with 7.9 gr pellets.  My modified one takes 13 pumps to get that speed.
