the shells do not eject.  It doesn't appear that the ejector even touches the shell.

I'd like to understand exactly what is [not] happening with your new USH!
1. Does the fired shell remain in the chamber with the rim flush with the end of the bbl when the ejector snaps out past the shell upon opening the action?

or,
2. Does the fired shell remain in the chamber with the rim flush with the end of the bb and the ejector does not move when you open the action?

3. Are unfired shells ejected when the action is opened?

Thanks! Hopefully CS has already worked out a solution for you.

the fired shell stays flush.  the extractor moves and seems to operate but does not eject the shell

Oh! :(
I hope that this is a new gun and you are the original owner. This way Customer Svc can take care of that for you!
Even so, I'm sure they could do the repair.  Without seeing it, it sounds like the wrong ejector is installed, or is broken off.......?

I hope this is taken care of easliy for you ......you will enjoy that gun when it get repaired!

CJ...You may want to try giving that USH a good cleaning first before calling CS.  I would pay particular attention to the area around the ejector and break action to make sure that there are no metal shavings or flakes that would impede the ejector.  A good cleaning is often the answer to such a problem even for a new slug gun.  Let us know if it works...
