new style iron sights?

I have read here that the newer barrels are coming through with a different style iron sight, either a Williams or similar to a Williams. Does anyone here have one and when did they start? Are the front and rear or either one now attached with a dovetail instead of being screwed on? Do you like them better and if so why? Can the new style be purchased from H&R? Thanks...I have a couple of newer barrels but each of them came with a scope rail so I am in the dark about the new iron sights....<><.... :grin:

The new sights are the Williams WGOS rear sight according to MtJerry....

Thanks Quick....They look as if they may work well for hunting. I wonder if they will be as accurate or more so for target work? It will be interesting to get some feedback after they are out a couple of months....<><.... :grin:

Maybe for the younger shooters and oldsters with good eyes, but the rear barrel mounted sights are too close to my shootin eye to have a clear sight picture, so I need optics or a rear peep... :oops:

What do you mean clear!!! Is the rear sight supposed to be clear and sharp? I'm lucky if the front sight is clear and sharp!!!....<><.... :-D

My 45-70 came with the new Williams sights.  I will most definetly be putting a Peep sight on it.  I kinda like the looks of the Williams Twilight but I am not gonna rush into it.  Also want to change the front to fiber optic.  Tracker I barrel is the standard H&R sights.  That's gettin a One Ragged Hole.  It's finally gettin' warm up here and have been busy so not getting much time to play with all my new stuff.  Mamma's recipe book is nearly done so that will free up more time for me, as well.  I have been helping with the cutting and binding of the books.  If anyone ever approaches you about putting together a "Family Cookbook"....RUN, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

Open sight on 30-30 is Williams rear sight and unknown front sight.  Called Williams about the front sight and getting a firesight, they said if it doesn't have a removable bead to replace it wasn't theres.  But they do have a sight on the website that is one piece fiber that would work I think.  As for the sights they work as well as anything I have from Williams.

I plan on switching to the WGRS- H & R receiver peep sight and a shorty front ramp and firesight bead.  I am going to try the twilight aperture in it as well.  So in the next couple of months maybe I will be able to post some results of the new sights.  

I am glad I looked on there site, the info on sight height was something I really never paid attention to.  Since I always bought the replacement kits for the other open sight rifles I have. Dale out.

The fully adjustable Millet rear sight, combined with Marble's fibre optic front sight I mounted on my 30-30 barrel have greatly improved sight acquisition time for me.

Yes, the rear sight does appear to be bit fuzzy while taking aim. However, this hasn't harmed my ability to achieve satisfying downrange results though.   :grin:

I'll do better than that for you. I purchased the Millet sight from Midway USA. Here is their page regarding this product: MILLET REAR RIFLE SIGHT
