The Bore Stix rod is .195" in diameter and the Tipton rod is .210" (not sure about the Dewey's rods diameter as I don't have one).
All 3 rods have the 8X32 threads. From what I can see online, you have to drop down to a .17 or .20cal jag to get 5X40 threads - seems no major manufacturer makes .22 jags or brushes in 5X40. If you REALLY want a 5X40 jag, I guess you could get a .17cal jag and use THICK patches - but that won't help much with brushes though.
I'm using the Tipton jag on my rods and it is the same diameter as the Tipton rod, and slightly larger than the Bore Stix diameter.
If you go with one of these rods, I have to say I really like the Bore Stix. All three have rotating handles, but the Bore Stix has the smoothest action of the bunch.
