That I'm just about OBLIGATED to buy another FA gun?  It only seems Christian and proper to me that I do so

I'm look'n at a modle 97 in 45 Colt with fixed sights and a 5 1/2 or 6 inch barrel.  It'll be another "I'm gitt'n it 'cuz I want it" gun and have no other use other than to take to the range and punch holes in paper.  A noble exercise, I'm sure you all will agree.

I don't know you but I give you a lot of credit for being the moderator for the new Freedom Arms Forum. I don't know a lot about Freedom Arms, but I purchased a Field Grade 475 Linebaugh and mounted a 2 1/2x8 Leupold on it. It shot 2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with factory Hornady 425 grain loads. I loved the handgun.  Actually it was the last handgun I was ever going to purchase.  However I had a shoulder injury and  could not shoot the Linebaugh any more.  I sold the Linebaugh and just purchased a new Model 83 in a 44 magnum with a factory trigger job ( 3  1/2 lbs. and a factory swivel setup. I also ordered a Lovell mount for my Leupold 2 1/8 x 8 scope.  As I mentioned before,  I will post the results of the groups at 100 yards when I get to the range. I will be shooting factory Winchester ammo. Good luck at you new job. Rod in Pa.

:cb2: Now that he's the new, first, and only FA moderator, do we have to bow before we read his posts now?

Ah, yes the octogon barrel.  I'd sure like to have one,  but I can't seem to find a mention of it on the FA website.

www.freedomarms.com – guns – scroll to the bottom “information/price sheet on new guns” – scroll down and look at the heading under the pictures of the cylinders.

$468.00 on a new mod 83 or 97, I was under the impression they had increased the price on oct barrels so I’d call them to see.

:cb2: Amen to that! I was looking at one today (just looking) and it had two cylinders. One for the 454, and another for 45 Colt. Now do you really need two cylinders, or are they just trying to get another $272 out of you?

:cb2: I don't know Dusty. My Mrs. keeps telling me I need all this useless stuff, like a new suit, slacks, shoes rather than cowboy boots, etc. Now why should I waste my money on that stuff, when there are still guns out there that I don't have yet??!!! And then, ya gotta have ammo! Gee, life's too short as it is.

Think you ought to contact Freedom Arms and see if they'll give you one.  As a moderator on the premier and most esteemed gun/hunting forum in the world, how could they resist?  While you're at it, see if they'll send you two so I could have one also.

IF you want to shoot .45s out of it, yes, you need both cylinders. You don't  want to shoot .45 in a 454 cylinder. Personally I don't see the need to shoot .45s and just download the 454s a bit. It keeps things simple and cheaper.
