S&W M&P date of manufacture?

If someone has a book, would you mind looking up the date of manufacture for my Grandad's old M&P? It's number is 5597xx with no other letters in the serial number.

I just had it out shooting it yesterday and it'll still go bang each and every time.

Supica's book says 1915-1942. Yours is about halfway in the SN range for those years..
For $30, you can obtain the exact shipping date and destination from Roy Jinks, S&W historian.
Or maybe someone at the S&W forum can provide more info.

That sounds good enuf for me. I was just curious. Funny to think I was shooting a gun last weekend that was twice as old as I am.
