Fishing Texas Gulf
« on: January 14, 2004, 03:55:54 PM »
I am planning a trip to the Port O'Connor, Port Lavaca area in late Feburary and would like to heard from anyone who has experience fishing that area.  What, where and how do you catch em.  Who runs a good charter boat service for off shore?  Would I be better off going to Port Aransas for a charter boat?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Thanks for the in-put.  I finally contacted Off Shore Adventures out of Aransas Pass.  I'm scheduled for three days with him the end of the month.  I kinda messed up a bit, I should have waited until after 22 April so I could fish for Red Snapper.  About all I will be able to keep on this trip is shark, black drum, and sheepshead.  I'm already trying to get a trip lined up for September to Port O'Connor for some red and trout surf fishing.  I was a game warden there back in the early sixties until Johnson stepped up the war in Viet Nam and said I needed to go.  I'm really looking forward to getting back out to Matagorda Island, we use to catch a lot of good fish there, both in the Army hole and on the surf.

I'm heading to Aransas Pass this weekend for a couple of days of fishing . Did a tourney in Matagorda last month , lots of nice fish caught in both bays. South Shoreline seams to be the most productive for trout and reds , think most of the big fish were caught around the airport .
