Smoke & fire on NYD! (update: I'm home)
« on: January 01, 2008, 12:57:14 PM »
Here are some smoke & fire photos and videos from today.

I'm not feeling very well, so I'm just going to leave them with you for now. I'll come back and fill in the details when I'm feeling better.

These videos, with commentary, are large files. If you have a slow connection you might want to skip to the second set.

These files only show the firing of the guns, no commentary. They load much faster.

And a final comment from yours truly...

Nice photos, looks warm there.  Got up this morning to 10 inches or so of fresh snow, the kind that you can make snowmen out of.  Hope whatever is making you feel ill goes away soon.

Hi Terry,  If you send them out here to Kaliforny I'd be right proud to clean them dirty barrels for you.
However, I can't rightly say when you'd get them back.  ;D ;D ;D   Is the firing of these guns what you meant when you said you were going to haul out the hangover medicine? Them is some good fire &smoke vids. Thank you for sharing!!!!

I'm not feeling very well,

Definitely sounds like excessive gunsmoke inhalation, a.k.a. "cannonitis."

Take two Tylenol and post how you feel tomorrow.

So far the new year is going ... not so good.

I'm posting from my laptop.

In my hospital room.

Despite feeling like crap, I got up and went to work this morning. Within an hour I was laying in a E.R. bed (after puking up a large amount of blood).

I'm waiting for yet another test, so I'll sign off for now.

Blood isn't good.  BUT being in the hospital is THE place to be to fix it.

Our prayers are with you!

Sorry for the suspense, but shortly after I posted they moved me to another ward. I couldn't have my laptop in there because of all the monitoring equipment (most of which was hooked to me!).

Long story short, a vessel burst in my esophagus, creating a large bleed into my digestive tract.

I was a very sick puppy. They had to put me out and use do endoscopic surgery to repair the bleed. Over the past two days, I've had two sets of chest x-rays, ultrasound, and a CAT scan. Plus all the associated gloop and glop that these exams require.

I finally got out of the ward and back into a room a couple of hours ago.

I did get some real food a little while ago, I hadn't eaten since New Years Day. Swallowing is still a struggle, but it'll get easier with time. Best of all, I'm finally able to get up and go to the bathroom by myself (I have to drag my IV with me).

Maybe they will let me sleep more than 30 minutes at a time tonight.

I'm going to sign off for now, I've had a busy day. I may get out tomorrow but more likely it will be Saturday.

Terry, the suspense was not good, but very understandable. Glad you're doing better and will be home soon. Looking forward to your next mortar and cannon projects!

Terry,

Next time, reduce your load, and don't stand in the muzzle blast...I heard that's what ruptures blood vessels.

Quit messing with the nurses and get out of there quick, nobody in there but sick people.

I was released from the hospital yesterday afternoon. I'd planned to post an update but once I hit the bed I never moved again until this morning.

I have vacation time and will probably take it easy for the next week.

Thanks to everyone for your support. I have to admit, this scared the crap out'a me.

Cheese&rice tropico I know exactly what you mean! I beat Pop by twenty years before my first heart attack, but it is always in the back of your mind, he passed after his fifth open heart operation. Although I am getting some revenge, I now have all of his tools that I was not supposed to touch and since I don't have any kids ther's none to leave MY tools out in the yard to rust! Alhough if we lived forever we would end up with all the cannons and there would'nt be any left for the new guys.

I hope everyone stays well...

Re: "Hangover medicine"

That comment from the other thread was a sort of inside joke.

I quit drinking in '93, not a drop since (in three days I celebrate my "15th Birthday"). Most of my neighbors are quiet, sober types, mostly older.

We do have, on the other hand, some new younger (20-ish) neighbors at the other end of the drive that are prone to all-night parties. I don't care as long as they keep it down and out'a my yard. If it comes down to a noise contest, we all know who will win.

They probably weren't feeling too well on NYD.

Too bad. We're in the county, I can make all the noise I want during daylight hours. As long as I don't endanger anyone, the guns are cool with the PoPo.

That said, if I know one of the neighbors is having health problems, or if there is a death in the family at one of the homes nearby, I won't shoot.
