i figure one of the easier ways to keep my Krag fed is to form .30-40 cases from .303. i have 500 pieces of .30-40 brass on back order from my local dealer, but who knows how long that will take.someone on a another forum mentioned they used a lot of formed .303 cases, but didn't tell me how, so i'm seeing if any one here knows. is it just a simple case of running the .303 case through the .30-40 sizing die?i figure the easiest way to avoid confusion with my brass rotation is to use the boxer primed urplus Greek HXP cases, i got about 75, and some friends shoot the stuff but don't reload it, so i can get about another 150-200 cases.

kevin.303 Can you order brass over the border??? MidwayUSA has new winchester brass in 30/40 Krag its #490823 and 50rds for $11.79.

i was gonbna order from sinclair, but after permits, postage and the exchange it's a lot less hassle to back order, and use reformed .303 until it arrives

i don't even think that Midway will ship to Canada, i know Brownell's stopped not too long ago.

After reviewing the dimensions, it looks like a case formed from .303 British will be a little short for the Krag. It should work all right, but you may want to fireform the cases before you load full-power. As for keeping the cases separate, firing the Krag ammo in a .303 would not be a problem, but a .303 in the Krag would be bad news. Good luck on your project.

Had a friend years ago who was into target work with .303s. He used Krag cases as the case diameter at the base filled the chamber better than 303 cases did, after fireforming. This was back when 30-40 cases were a LOT more expensive, so there must be something to it. If the conversion works one way, it might the other.

It sure seems like our brothers across the border in the north country could use a place like MidwayUSA or it would be called MidwayCanada??
I'm very surprised that someone hasn't tapped this $$ just waiting to fill the supply and meet the demand. I wonder if they have too many to prevent this from happening. BigBill

We'll ship over the border no problem, Rem .30-40 runs 27.36/100; S/H is 7.05 for 100.

actually, my local dealer has ordered in a bunch for me at $22 per bag of 50, so that plus my massive pile of surplus .303 brass should last me a good long time.
