List of Prizes to be awarded at shoot.
« on: January 19, 2005, 10:39:34 AM »
Guys I'm gonna keep this thread locked so it don't get too long. I'll post the prizes I have lined up here as quickly as I lock in firmly what they will be. At the time I open this I have locked in that Nosler will support us as will Bushnell but not the specifics. I have sent in written requests to both.

As I know the specifics on the prizes I'll list them in this thread.

The Mueller scopes are in hand.  Mueller has supplied two scopes. One is their Eraticator 8.5-25x50AO IGR (see it at: http://muelleroptics.com/Eraticator.htm) and the other is their 3-10x44IGR at: http://muelleroptics.com/3-10x44IGR.htm

Today when we got home from buying groceries there were two boxes of goodies from Bushnell for prizes. Got a spotting scope and a box full of rifle scopes to give away as prizes. Don't have the full list right now but will post it later. I recall at least one 3-9 deer hunting type scope and several big high powered varmint and target scopes. I think there were five or six rifle scopes and the spotter. Not sure if that's all they are sending or not as I'm expecting yet another box. Laura was gonna send a big Bushnell Banner for me to put up and catalogs for everyone.

Here is the list of optics from Bushnell at this time.

1.Bushnell Sentry 16-32x50mm Spotting scope
2. Tasco Target/Varmint 10-40x50mm Rifle Scope
3. Tasco Titan 3-12x52mm Rifle scope
4. Bushnell Banner 6-18x50mm Rifle scope
5. Tasco Golden Antler 3-9x40mm Rifle scope.

Gunstocks, Inc. has generously agreed to provide a nice walnut NEF stock with roll over cheek piece and a target fore end for the shoot.

What a surprise when we opened the box at the prize give away. Gunstocks, Inc. provide FOUR (4) sets of stocks. I was only expectsing one set.

NOTE: Lee didn't come thru with all stuff promised so list has been amended. GB

Now we can add Lee Precision to the list of supporters of our Prairie Dog Shoot. I spoke with John Lee and from Lee Precision we'll be getting:

1. Lee Four Hole Turret Press.
2. Several Lee Reloading Manuals
3. One Auto Prime and AP shell holders

Nosler came thru in a BIG WAY.

I've got well over $1000 worth of Nosler stuff to  bring. I think it was 8 or 9 boxes worth. Got caps for everyone as well as catalogs for everyone. Got a dozen Nosler reloading manuals and so many thouands of bullets I've not even got a good count on them. Got lots of 250 packs of varmint bullets in both .224 and 6MM sizes in various weights. Got a lot of boxes of their newly reintroduced Solid Base bullets in a whole variety of diameters and weights.

This morning when I opened up the garage door I found two boxes of goodies from Sierra sitting there. Dunno when they arrived but I suspect yesterday late as USP doesn't normally run early here. They didn't even bother to ring the doorbell to let us know. Glad it wasn't raining.

One box is full of Sierra Loading Manuals. I think I counted six in it. The other box contained a bunch of 500 packs of Sierra Varmint and/or Target bullets. Got a bunch of them. If you like Sierra Bullets you're gonna be happy with this selection. And lots of folks are gonna get some.

OK guys I'm gonna open this one up for discussion now. I think I have in hand almost everything I've asked for from the folks that support GBO. I've not yet reached Hornady but honestly I'm not gonna have room for what they might send. If I get them involved it's gonna hafta ship direct to Wes as we're just not going to have room for more.

I'm still waiting on the Gunstocks, Inc. stock set.

If I ask for anything else from folks I think it's gonna be gift certificates. I might have room for those.

I'll start another thread to discuss how we're gonna distribute all the door prizes.

You're right, I never expected so much volume to show up. I've asked Wes if it will be OK to ship any remainder to him and for an address if so. I'm awaiting contacting Hornady until I hear from him.

I spoke with Jon of The Optic Zone last night and he is going to send me some Gift Certificates to give away. Not sure how many or the value of each yet. I can carry a few pieces of paper but several more big boxes just aren't gonna fit.

Bill, if you would please list the point-of-contacts of companies.  So that we can send letters of "thank you" / "appreciation".  Because you and them have gone way above anything necessary or expected.

It's been here at least a week or so I'd guess. I've not opened the box as it's a prize so I've just left it packed up safely for the trip. We'll all see it at the prairie dog shoot. I think I was told it would be semi fancy walnut but don't hold me to that.

I now have two $50 gift certificates from Jon at The Optic Zone. Jon sponsors the Optics Discussion Forum and the GBO Home Page and also has a rotating banner. He is a strong supporter of GBO.

I'm still waiting some gift certificates from Ron Reed of Reed Ammo which he told me would be coming. I think other than that I now have all stuff in hand I'm gonna get.

I should be able to post a complete contact list for those folks who donated the merchandise by the end of this week.

I have contacted all of the sponsers by phone and thanked them personally except for Adam Braverman, John Nosler, Laura Olinger, and I'm calling John Lee back in two minutes.

FYI, the name of the contact for Gunstocks Inc is not John, it's Ed.

I spoke with him at length about the best ways to finish my stock for the rifle that you guys bought me.  I'm taking pictures of each stage and going to post the pics when it's completely finished.

He's really good, and will tell you the best way to finish those stocks.
