Thumbhole Encore Stock?
« on: June 15, 2005, 02:42:39 PM »
Does anybody make a high comb, ambidextrous, walnut thumbhole stock for the Encores?  Whew that was a mouthful!  I want to try one (TH) out but I like the idea of being able to shoot from both sides if needed.  Any help is appreciated.

Daddy Paul,
I believe Boyds makes a laminated thumbhole for the Encore (Boydsboys.com).
Isn't T/C making a walnut thumbhole for the Encore this year or is it only for the Contenders-I will have to check my T/C Catalog to be sure.

Thumbhole Encore Stock?

Several companies make thumbhole stocks for the Encore, just not one that can be shot (comfortably) from either side of the gun.  I am looking for one that doesn't have a Monte Carlo piece on one side.  Just like a regular stock except it has a thumbhole in it, if that makes any sense? :?

Not trying to be a butt head, but unless you just like the looks of a thumbhole stock, why put one on it.  I always wanted a thumbhole on mine, not for looks but for funtionality.  Then I realized that the standard stock is basically a thumbhole with the part of the stock above the thumb removed which means you do not need to remove your thumb from the stock to cock it.

The thumbholes do look pretty cool.  Hope you find one.  Gunstocksinc sells them but I think theirs are either right handed or left handed.  They will however make a custom stock I think, so you might want to give them a call.  Their price would probably be reasonable

Gunstocks Inc. has a couple different styles of the thumbhole stocks, they have a high comb non-thumbhole for the right or left-hand shooter.
They are also working on an ambidextrouis thumbhole stock for the Contenders & Encore which they say will be available in about a month, the stocks will be available in all grades of walnut and laminates.
