LEE LIQUID ALOX
« on: June 13, 2005, 01:33:41 PM »
I found out something today.
I had a bunch of old bullets  309 and 44 that i had no use for. they both had been lubed with LEE LIQUID ALOX. so I dumped them all into my empty melting pot. they all melted well but I found a very large glob of tar like stuff floating on top. cleaned it all off and everything was nice and shine. the lee liquid alox really does not melt.

on a side note I did see something strange once everything was removed. the melted lead looked like it was boiling in one spot. little bubbles would come to the top.

The boiling could have been some moisture trapped in a bullet near the bottom or some Alox. Bullet lubes, bees wax, pine tar all make pretty good fluxes, they just smoke alot.
