UPS not too Swift!

Well as I stated I got excellent service from Henry on my gun I wish I could say the same about UPS. Henry Emailed me when the gun was shipped back and included the tracking number. I checked up on the tracking and they said they would deliver FRI the 10th ( Tomorrow) SO I went fishing today and stopped by the gunsmiths a friend of mine to BS a bit. Well fishing was good I got a limit of nice broook trout and when I got home I opened the door and there was my rifle between the screen door and the regular door. Well needless to say I was not impressed as any one could have come along and taken my rifle at least it was still there. I would think that UPS would have had to have me sign off on it they do with any other gun I have had sent to me. Well Like I said at least it was still there. Since I live in a apt complex any one could have seen my truck gone and seen the delivery and made off with it. Glad no one did. Jim

Hmm, UPS is required to have a signature on delivery of firearms and they can't deliver to a juvenile, either....FWIW.  Did ya check the tracking last night or early today? I always watch the tracking before delivery, sometimes the shipment arrives early and they'll deliver it when it comes in.  That's usually the exception though....more often than not, it's the other was round, it doesn't make the delivery date more often.

I checked the Tracking on Wed Afternoon they said it would not be delivered until Fri the 10 so that is why I figured I could leave on Thurs and not have to worry about it as it was not coming until the following day. Jim

I had something similar happen to me with UPS a few years ago.  I had a handgun coming back from the gunsmith and I knew I didn't want it sitting on the doorstep; so I specifically said "Hold at UPS Terminal" (which was about 1 mile from my house).  HOWEVER, since I had  been corresponding with the gunsmith from my workplace, that's where the gun got delivered, even though the shipping label on the package did have the notation "Hold at UPS Terminal". I got a call from the mailroom. They gave me some pretty funny looks (seems they had opened the package ... standard procedure for them, I guess).

:cb2: Not too unusual. One of my best friends used to be a salesman for Mikita power tools. I went by his house one afternoon, and he wasn't home, however, several thousand dollars worth of brand new power tools had been delivered and were simply sitting on his front porch. He said that happened all the time.

A couple years back, my co-worker/shooting buddy had a case of milsurp ammo delivered to his home.  His 12 year old daughter signed for it . . .  :roll:

We sometimes joke about leaving a pen for the cat to sign too.

Was the package labeled as containing a firearm? Because if it wasn't, there's no way for the shipping company to know there is one inside.

Number 1 since UPS picks up at Henry it had to have a tag on it or the driver would have never picked it up. Two the driver on my end knows I get guns on my C&R license and he has delivered more that a couple gun boxes at my door which I aways signed for. He also delivers to the local gun shop every day and has delivered more that a few Henry boxes there too which have to be signed for. Nope UPS told me they were going to talk to the driver after I told them all the facts. I would bet it had a tag and it got ripped off. Jim

It definitely happen.  They left a Marlin 444 on my front porch.  It WAS stolen.  Luckily it was insured.  Driver lost his job over it.  It was designated as an "Adult Signature Only" package.  Records indicated that the package was left on the front porch.

Some years ago I had returned a Ruger flat top Blackhawk for transfer bar retrofit.  
UPS left it on the front porch while the wife and I were at the parents house for Christmas in Orlando from 23 Dec to 30 Dec.  
The wife taught school at that time and the neighborhood kids were around regularly.  Got lucky I guess.  It was there when we returned and the porch stoop wasn't even screened. It was leaning against the front door...
I called and they said the driver didn't know it was a gun.  
I couldn't hold it in and gave them a "BS" and commented, since the box had Ruger on it and they delivered 98% oe the firearms in the country, possibly they had a driver that couldn't read. :D
