Sight removal
« on: June 12, 2005, 01:35:48 PM »
I have a 10" 7TCU barrel with the Silver soldered? front sight. I like a clean barrel for scope use. What is the best way to remove this front sight. Is the solder soft enought to just knock it off with a hammer?

I don't mind a little touch up with cold blue, but don't want to make a mess of the barrel either. Thanks for the help, Byron

A propane torch will do it.

Heat the sight until the solder melts and wipe molten solder from barrel with a shop rag. It shouldn't look too bad. If so use some touchup blue.
