Date for Black Bear near Petersburg

I am planning a spring 2006 black bear hunt out of Petersburg Ak.  My question is, we will have 1 week to hunt, which week should that be ??

Late Mayish... The snow up there doesn't really disapear until then. But it also depends on the winter and how much snow they get...  Unless you have access to a snow machine then I would plan on the second or third week of May. That way if there were still snow on the ground you would have plan B taken care of. That is when the Big Boars are starting to come out anyway, right? But to be safe stick with late May....  8)

Thanks for the info, however I'm looking at the Petersburg in South East AK, located on the Wrangell narrows.

I was there last year June 10ish, and the bears had already stopped eating on the grasses on the beaches.  

I was thinking about May 1, plus or minus a week.

I know, I'm an idiot, for some reason I was thinking Petersville....

Sorry, you are right early May would be a lot better in Petersburg, LOL...

I just thought of that this morning over coffee, and came back to correct my post before you saw it... LOL
