HUNTSMAN REUSABLE PRIMER HOLDERS???

I still got my original 5, after 5 years. I thought they would wear out, so 'm still using the first one I tried. Probably has 15 shots or so, between sighting in and hunting. When the hammer falls it keeps the primer in place until I get home from the hunt. I have no Idea what the lifetime of these things are. I carry a spare with primer on hunts in a converted fly box....I got 4 unused!

Before I went to the 25 acp plug in my sidekick,
I got 70 shots with one carrier before the primer
got too loose. The other 4 are still unused.I'll keep
them just in case, but don't see myself buying any
more of them.

The 25 acp plug is a new breechplug which takes 25acp
pistol brass primed with a small rifle primer. The small rifle
primers are cleaner for me.The new plug also has a hex
face for easier installation/removal.I find the NEF plug
setup to be a pain, especially with their joke of a tool.Even
if you don't already reload, the tools to prime/deprime the
brass is inexpensive and very easy to deal with. This "upgrade"
has turned my sidekick into a whole different gun for me.I
even get better groups with the small rifle primers.I shoot
my ML's alot,so the initial cost was worth it to me.The new
breechplug costs $60,but 25 acp brass is cheap and the primers
are as well. The plug is sold by PR Bullet.Hope this helps.
Gary
ps:With this plug, the primer carriers are no longer used.

Old Mudshark,

These are links to the .25 ACP ignition. The first is for the NEF, the second one gives a little history.

I have arthritis in both hands. The primer holders make it a simple deal to use especially when it is cold. The orange tab sticking out the side of the breech is a dead give away that it's primed !

I'm with fast*eddie, the primer carriers are easy to use and a quick reference if the gun is loaded. You can buy extra carriers from NEF, Cabalas, and Dallas Tactical.

Each to his own, but I like the primer carriers. I was playing around with different loads last sat. and maybe went through 30 rounds with one carrier, come to think of it that is the only one I have ever used and it has maybe 70+ rounds threw it. 8)
